Ghost Hunting Events

On the internet you can find a whole host of Ghost hunting events where you can spend the evening of a night as a haunted location to quench your thirst for haunted activity. But what are these Ghost hunting events really like?

When you arrive at your haunted location, you will be greeting be the event organisers who are usually really friendly and helpful. It's a good time to ask any questions that you might have regarding torches, refreshments, cameras and camcorders; some events are very happy for you to take photos or videos. It's worth taking or wearing layers of clothing that can be removed because if you are on a night event, the temperature will drop and you might feel cold. Also the evening will probably involve a lot of standing in darkness, so wear flat comfortable shoes.

There might be some free time between arriving and the ghost hunt event starting whilst other 'hunters' arrive. Use this time to study your location and take a few photos, and take time to take it all in and let the ambience of the place wash over you.

If it's your first time on a paranormal investigation event, you're probably wondering what to expect. You might see objects move, or evidence that they have moved. You might see lights and orbs or even a mist like apparition. Usually in a haunted location you will expect to hear scratching, knocking and footsteps. Rarer noises would include spoken words, heavy breathing or animal like noises. Physically you might feel temperature changes, nausea and faintness, or overwhelming emotions during the course of the night as different spirits or ghost walk amongst you.

The event will start with an introduction to the location and a brief dip into its history, followed by an introduction to the ghosts and spirits that you might encounter there should the energies be in your favour. Usually the stories about the ghosts and spirits will include some research that the event holders have done to discover more about this person when they were alive. Where that isn't possible, they might have looked into the local history to discover what was occurring locally at the time that the person had been alive and made an educated guess as to who this ghost or spirit might have been.

During the haunted event you might be invited to join in various activities that Psychics, Clairvoyants and medium have used for years to contact spirits. These activities might include scrying, table tipping or the Ouija board. Activities are not compulsory and you can opt out if you don't feel comfortable joining in.

Ghost Hunting Events - red light scrying Scrying is a technique used to open your inner eye and to make your more in tune with spirit messages. To scry you need to be in a dimly lit room, and if you are scrying alone you need to look into something reflective - a mirror, a bowl of water, a crystal ball or a silver plate for example. As art of a group you might be asked to scry with a red light. The scryer sits with a red light held at their chest pointing up at their face. The rest of the group need to then push

all their controlled thoughts out of their head and gaze at the lit face. Images and thoughts will come to the gazers which are suggestions imposed by spirits. If you have a medium in the party, they will be able in interpret some of these messages.

Ghost Hunting Events - table tipping Table tipping is a technique used to ask spirits to show their presence in a very visible way. The party stands around a table with their fingertips on the top of the table. In turn, usually going around the table, the party ask the spirit to join them and show their presence. Despite the name 'Table Tipping', you might expect to hear knocking on the table, vibrations in the table, or the table might rock or shake. If the powers in the group are high the table may also move across the floor or upturn the table. Tables have also been knows to be raised up off the floor. If it table is having trouble 'getting started' you maybe asked to join little fingers to improve the ring of power between the group.

In some haunted locations tables will move if you simply stand in a joined ring around them. Chanting can also help the ring power to aid the spirit to move the table.

Ghost Hunting Events - Ouija BoardThe Ouija board is probably the best known way of communicating with spirits. It's a board with letters, numbers and a few simple symbols and words on it, and which the aid of a planchette spirits can spell out messages. Horror films have given the Ouija board a bad reputation but as part of a haunted event hosted by Psychics, Clairvoyants and mediums, the Ouija board is a safe activity. However, you do need to be aware that the spirits that contact you via the Ouija board might be insultive and use fowl language.

Ghost hunting events usually take place in very old buildings or locations, so it's a great opportunity to have a look around an interesting site, and learn some local history. Of course on a ghost hunting event - ghosts sightings and paranormal activity can not be guaranteed, but your hosts should be able to direct you to the haunted hot spots where activity would be most likely.
